2018-2019
This comprehensive environmental survey was conducted to extend the lease of the manganese ore site located at the Semipalatinsk Test Site. In August-September 2018, field works were carried out in the areas of Yesymzhal, Dauletpai, South Kostarak, North Uzunbulak, Central Uzunbulak, South Uzunbulak, which are integral parts of the Yesymzhal deposit. During fieldwork, soil, vegetation and water samples were collected for laboratory testing. Measurements of atmospheric air quality, noise level, ambient gamma background equivalent dose, radon specific activity level were carried out. Instruments and measuring devices, which passed state verification, were used for the research. The laboratory of the enterprise is accredited in the state certification system. In the process of desk work the processing of laboratory and field research results was carried out. The quality of the natural environment was assessed, maps of pollution distribution in different environments were constructed. The radiological situation in the study area was assessed. The activity level of radionuclides in different natural environments was determined. Calculation of the effective dose of the expected impact on the employees of the enterprise was carried out. Studies have shown that the level of pollution of various natural environments in the contract area is low. The quality of the natural environment is satisfactory. The radiation situation is stable and meets the requirements of regulatory documentation. The total expected effective dose from technogenic radionuclides does not exceed the permissible value.
