From September 12 to 14, 2023, Kurchatov city hosted the X International Conference "Semipalatinsk Test Site: Legacy and Prospects for Development of Scientific and Technical Potential". The event attracted attendees and speakers from more than ten countries, including: USA, Japan, China, France, Russia, Austria, Norway, Belarus, Hungary, etc. Employees of ECOEXPERT LLP were invited to take part in the work of the conference.
In addition to the “Plenary Session” for all participants, the rest of the reports were divided into 4 sections. Each participant of the conference could choose the most interesting for him/her direction of reports. According to our occupation, the Section was called “Radiation Ecology and Medicine”. Most of the reports were devoted to the current radioecological situation at the test site. All of these reports are part of an extensive and long-term effort to withdraw part of the land at the test site for agriculture and subsoil use.
A smaller part of the reports was devoted to the radioecological situation in Kazakhstan, on the periphery of Kazakhstan's borders and in other countries where research for scientific investigations was conducted. Some reports focused on the cleanup or reduction of radioactive contamination of substances and production areas.
